3 Day Motorcycle Backroads Nature Discovery Trail.
Start Grabouw 09:30 -- Elgin valley 1 hour from Cape Town.
On arrival, an informative briefing meeting with maps and orientation.
Practice and familiarization on the bikes, pack up traveling luggage, each bike has a removable soft top box and small tank bag , you will be issued with a back pack if you need one as well , together with gloves and helmet , ' always recommended to bring your own if you have one ' knee protection shin pads are available . Make sure you have travel insurance with you.
We take care of all the accommodation bookings and route guidance, permits, meal stops en route and general assistance, so all you have to do is to ride and experience the unique environment.
The route takes us from Elgin through the apple farm to the Theewaterskloof Lake and around to Genadendal and Greyton coffee stop is all mountain passes and farms.
After a lunch stop we clime over to the Boland mountain area to Bonivale and Montague cutting down close to the Bree river and then crossing it . We climb a 800m to the Mt Eco game stay high in the Arnsberg mountain range great service here an remote Fynbos territory , clean up for dinner
Day 2:Breakfast -Mount up and to the ride though Sanbona game reserve, ravines and ancient unusual rock formations called the dinosaur country as many fossils have been found around here. We are now in the Anysberg Mountains and valleys traveling past small settlements with essential irrigation of high value crops. Lunch stop, refuel - the afternoon take us the though the Koo Valley Mecca of dried fruit and preserves. This is semi Karoo country.
Further North we pass though the famous Ceres fruit production area on the farms passing the old Tromps berg pass down into the Ceres valley some of the best fruit Juice in the world is produced here. Passing though the Michelâs Pass through more farms and along river tracks to Tulbagh overnight at a wine farm stay over, clean up Dinner.
Day 3: We are now in the Tulbagh basin surrounded by monolithic mountains to wake up to -Breakfast
riding south along the tracks at the base of the Wemershoek Mountain range passing the small town Wolseley below though some river crossings and mountain tracks where joining the Bains kloof Pass (Tar road) probably one of the most scenic passes in the country over the top to wellington and climbing back along the mountain wine farms past Paarl to the north of the valley then up the back way though the mountain forest of the old du Toit's Kloof pass, Lunch stop at a mountain wine farm.
The final afternoon ride takes us though the Dornrivier dirt road back to the Elgin valley Base about 1700 we pass four entirely different habitats en route on this tour, it is a memorable trip well worth riding.
Duration: 3 Day Trail riding 5 hours per day
